Watching Duet has become a popular pastime around here, she's so irresistibly cute! Her eyes opened on her eleventh day,
and she has been busy exploring and learning about her world ever since. Learning is exhausting, so she has to snooze a lot
- in some very cute positions.
She likes to sleep with her head up - cute! |

By two and a half weeks, Duet was seriously threatening to climb out of the crate-bottom "whelping box", so it was time
to set up the puppy pen in our dog room and move her and her mama in. Here she is, peering out at her new digs.

Meeting new friends is apparently exhausting, too! Here is Duet with our grandson, Aidan, who is twelve months old. Aidan
thought the tiny puppy was really cool! Duet thought Aidan made a nice bed, epecially after she manuvered herself into the
proper position! I LOVE babies!

Note Duet's sleeping position! |
At three weeks, little Duet is walking around pretty well, and using the papers like a good girl when Dena isn't in there
licking her. Dena is a very conscientious mama, still spending most of her time with Duet, even though Duet has tiny, razor-sharp
teeth coming in now.
She can walk! |

Amazing, considering the size of her belly! |

Duet is very curious about the things in her pen, especially Dena's dish and water bucket. She couldn't get her little
snout into the bucket without choking herself on the rim, so we have since changed to a smaller bucket. After a moment of
surprise and some snorkeling, Duet quickly learned to lap up water - such a smart girl!
What's this shiny thing? |

It has wet stuff in it. |
Solo plays very gently with Duet, and it is so funny to watch them and hear her tiny puppy growls and woofs! The only
problem is that Solo is a shredder. You can see the bits of shredded paper and toys on the outside of the puppy pen, and here
is a photo of Mr. Solo the Shredder working on the inside of the pen, shredding paper and pulling out the blankets. Duet seems
to be asking for someone to come and stop him, but I was more interested in taking photos of the two of them interacting.
Pretty soon, I was rewarded with a scene of classic sibling disagreement, as Duet informed her brother that she didn't like
him messing up her stuff! Girls rule, even tiny ones!

It's a tough job to make a nine-month-old whippet boy behave, but little sis seems up to giving it a try! She is so much
fun, and very snuggly, too. The perfect baby doll!
|
Mama Dena still runs off the other dogs when they are getting too close to Duet, but she does NOT fuss at Solo for this,
in fact, she allows him to jump into the pen with his baby sister! Duet seems to really enjoy playing with her "big brother",
who is still a silly puppy himself, at nine months.

Duet turned around and lit into Solo's hocks, and made little leaping grabs for his tail. When he turned around to see
what was going on back there, she went for his lowered face. Here is the fearsome creature, trying to bite her brother's nose:
