2007 Litter (repeat of '06)

Love, the second time around!

Dena - Longrun's Legendary Mission, JC, CR, OTR, has again been bred to:
Scoop - National Select, SBIS, Am/Can CH Jade's Ice Dream Man of Whyme!
We are thrilled with how Solo,  the puppy from the first pairing of these two, is turning out, but there's only one of him, and that's a problem - there's not enough puppy love to go around! The only solution was to repeat the breeding.

Debi Adams of Jade Whippets is our co-breeder of this litter.

Dena has whelped on August 2, 2007 - see the new Longrun & Jade Whippet!

More photos and information will be added from time to time, so check back. For more info on Scoop, see Jade Whippets.

This litter will be AWC Futurity nominated; see the quality-packed pedigree.

Scoop showed promise as a puppy
baby Scoopie
What a cutie!

In addition to being a beautiful puppy himself - he finished his AKC Championship from the 6-9 month class and won his first Hound Group at 6 months - Scoop has sired beautiful puppies. Used on a limited basis, he has sired Champions (Am. and/or Can.) in each litter he has produced that has reached maturity as of this date.
Scoop is a moderate 21 inches, balanced in every way - body and temperament. He is an outstanding gem of a whippet, and we are thrilled to be bringing his wonderful attributes and pedigree into our Longrun whippets!

Scoop has retained fun puppy-like qualities
Scoop-in-a-box
even as an adult

and he's not afraid to express his opinions

using his endearing sense of humor.

What a guy!

Dena preg. 6 wks
six weeks, 1-2 days in whelp

It looks like we're expecting another small litter, but hopefully not as small as last time. An ultrasound at 32 days showed activity in both horns, so that means there should be at least two puppies - we're hoping there are more! However many, they're sure to be special!

Seven weeks in whelp

After a couple of days of watching Dena's temperature slowly drop, I got a reading of 98.2 F in the late afternoon on Wednesday, August 1st. Dena was rather restless all that night (so was I!), finally beginning to "nest" in earnest the next morning. By mid-morning on Thursday, August 2, 2007, she was having some obvious contractions and growing more and more uncomfortable as time wore on. The photo below shows one position she experimented with in her bid to get comfy during her labor.

My first glimpse of a new puppy came at just after 1:00 PM, when two tiny feet with tiny pink pads and tiny white nails could be seen, but they quickly hid again. Poor Dena! She had worked very hard to get that far, but had more than a half an hour yet to work before the whole puppy finally came out into the world - a beautiful little girl! Happy, but tired, Dena turned her full attention to bathing her adorable daughter, who weighed in at 13 ounces.
